ADNE

ADNE was nominated to represent the Diaspora Voice at the Dialogue with European Civil Society on the new European Consensus on Development to take part from the 19th to the 21st October 2016 in Brussels.

The European Consensus on Development is a policy Statement that commits the EU to eradicating poverty and building a fairer and more stable world.

The New Consensus on Development aims at defining the major orientations of the EU Development Policy in order to reflect the fundamental changes in the global framework for sustainable development after the adoption of the 2030 Development Agenda. The Consultation will offer the European Commission an opportunity to outline some of its initial thinking on a new Consensus, following a series of consultative discussion that took place over the summer of 2016 (including at the 2016 European Development Days and during an online public consultation).  The Director General for International Cooperation and Development at the European Commission, Mr Stefano Manservisi, will introduce the discussion and civil society organisations will have the opportunity to react and respond to Commission thinking on a revised Consensus.  ADNE salutes this very important recognition of Diaspora as Development Actors. The success of the 2030 Agenda will, indeed, require that “No one is left behind” and that all the means both the traditional development aid and new finincing instruments such Diaspora Remittances are used effeciently This is an ideal framework to place African Diaspora in the centre of the development process. ADNE will highlight the importance to enhance and expedite the African Diaspora’s role in developmentLearn more about the New Consensus: Learn more about ADNE Work
